CBCR3 Player

My Mom loves the CBC. Imagine then how proud she was to find out that I was working for our national broadcasting company. Truthfully, I am only contracting to them, and I'll probably never end up on the radio, but I'll take the parental bonus points where I can get them.

Lat year I worked with the folks at CBC Radio 3 to develop a music player for their site, giving users access to the HUGE archive of music that lives with CBCR3. Over time, it's developed into quite a robust little player, allowing users to create and share playlists, and save favourite tracks, albums, and playlists.

The last change we made was minor, but the post on the site sure resulted in some good user feedback:

"I absolutely love the R3 player – it is part of what gets me through my day at work. I don't think there is another tool on the web that delivers such great music in such an incredible fashion."

"This little player is a masterpiece. I don't even try to understand how this all works. It' more than simple streaming – it's innovative. To summarize: take the greatest team one can imagine, let them feed ingenious technology with hand picked first class music, 24/7 and give it all away for free. Sounds impossible? No, it’s reality – it’s CBC Radio3"

"This is sweet! Really, I think that the R3 Media Player is the next iTunes."

Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it? I spend so much of my time building prototypes or behind-the-scenes applications that I don't get too much of a time to show off projects that I do outside of my art practice. Technology aside, the music over at R3 is incredible. Check out their live and studio sessions, and the archive of thousands of Canadian bands. Rock and roll!!
