Sounds like a good plan<br />Just thought I'd drop by and mention that we pretty much started Dorkbotpdx the same way and it's been working out well. We've had about 4 "informal" meetings where whoever wants to shows up and we talk about whatever over a couple beers. We also have slowly been moving towards finding a space for regular events and talking about other activities we'd like to have the group focus on. It's been great and seems to match the Northwest temperment better than a more formal, established approach of setting up an event and then announcing it to the world and just hoping the right people show up. Good luck and hopefully one of these days a few of us can road trip up there to meet our dorkbot neighbors in Canada (planning on doing a dorkbot roadtrip to Seattle at some point already).

Intro<br />Hi, I've read about Dorkbot... sounds great ! Glad to see someone has started something in Van. My name is David Ayre, my project partner (Andrew Klobucar) and I started a conceptual organization called Global Telelanguage Resources dedicated to exploring issues of writing and technology (http://www.gtrlabs.org). I'm primarily a coder with a strong interest in computational linguistics. I've got some Java projects i'm in the process of rolling out under GPL for textual analysis, transformation and generation, one app is kinda like a photoshop for words, filters applied to text to transform it in creative ways. Also just started working with the folks at Bryght (www.bryght.com) who are a great creative bunch, and am doing quite a bit of PHP work with Drupal. Would be intersted in getting to know some of the more computationally related computer types and what people are up to... been kinda isolated the last year so would be good to meet people and share ideas/collaborate. See you on the 7th !

DorkBot RollCall<br />Hi David! Sounds like a really fascinating project. I'm looking forward to chatting with you on the 7th and finding out more about it. I have some friends that are writers who would probably find your work particularly intruiging... maybe some of them will join us. -Jer

Hey! Looking forward to the<br />Hey! Looking forward to the 7th although I probably won't get there until 830 or 9. I think it's great to see a dorkbot starting up in town. I'm an artist (www.katearmstrong.com) and I run the Upgrade (http://www.katearmstrong.com/upgrade/vancouver/), which is another fun gathering for those into art and technology and everything in between. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new folks so ciao until then...
