Glocal is Canada’s largest contributive digital artwork. It is a massive interactive experience that asks people all over the world to re-examine how they look at photography and technology. Artists M. Simon Levin, Jer Thorp and Sylvia Grace Borda and the Glocal Team have produced a series of open-source toolkits which engage participants to explore global and local perspectives. Visitors to the glocal.ca can already view hundreds of unique public contributions, download free software, and learn how to have their own work included in the project. Starting on October 4th, the Surrey Art Gallery’s TechLab will be transformed to provide an interactive sneak-peek of the final web and screen-based work.
